One Step, One Voice, One Community is a choral experience that features the Grand River Voices, under the direction of Amy Di Nino, singing songs that will encourage and inspire. Performing fresh arrangements of popular classics including Walking on Sunshine and Three Little Birds, it will be a rousing first half! Our special guest, Joni NehRita Music, will join the choir in the second half to perform music from her "Songs For Community" songbook, which explores themes of social justice and empathy. A concert not to be missed!

The word 'grow' evokes ideas of nurturing, openness, curiosity, shifting perspective, change, and notions of time. Through song, we explore these concepts within the relationship with oneself, with the earth, and with one another. Rooted in love, we can grow into life-giving ways of being. As part of the program, AOMS is particularly excited to be performing three original songs that embody these themes by local singer-songwriter, Joni NehRita, from her new project: Songs for Community.

Also featuring works by MacDonald/Girvan | Dickau/Burns | Hatfield | Brumfield | Gjeilo | Larson/Emerson.

Join singer/songwriter and multi-disciplinary artist, Joni NehRita for an evening of music and exploration. The Jamaican-Canadian artist’s music invites listeners to think, feel and move with her socially charged Afro-Latin & Caribbean soul. She will give the audience a peek behind life as an independent artist who is committed to using her voice for equity and the cultivation of compassion. There will be intimate performances from her latest album, Love & Protest as well as from her upcoming choral project entitled, Songs For Community.

Having recently traveled to Brazil to complete facilitator’s training, she will also give participants a little taste of “Música do Círculo / Circle Music”, which is in essence, a form of group music making whose core elements include: body percussion, improvisation, movement, play and singing. Don’t fret- no musical experience is required. For more information, contact the Arts Department at 416-393-7157
